Does Confess. replace confession with a priest?
No. Only a validly ordained priest can absolve sins in the Sacrament of Confession. Confess. helps you prepare: it guides your examination of conscience and helps you remember what you want to say.
Is Confess. free?
Yes. Confess. is free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no ads, and no premium tier.
Can anyone read what I write?
No. Your examinations, journal, and notes are encrypted on your iPhone with AES-256-GCM, and the key stays in your device’s Keychain. There is no account and no server holding your data, so no one else, including the developer, can read it.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no email required. The app works entirely on your device.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. The examination of conscience, journal, examen prayer, prayer library, and confession guide all work offline. Only the daily Gospel reading needs a connection.
Is Confess. available on Android?
Not yet. Confess. runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later, in English and Spanish.
